In these respects it offers less features but can still give you some pretty good quality HD video on its SD/SDHC media. What does make it feel more "affordable" is its 16.0MP sensor and it's less powerful 24-120mm Carl Zeiss T* lens. It was priced about $200 lower than our P2. Its specs are 2.7/3.8and 250g which is lighter than the P2. This Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H70 is pretty much a direct market competitor to the Sony HVR-Z1U camcorder we tested. I'll reserve final judgement until I've run some tests with it, but for those who are looking for 1080i at a budget price and need to use the lens for the best combination of sharpness, colour and viewing angle then the A1D has everything you need from this price range. The base lens offers 70 degrees of viewing angle and whilst it isn't the best lens for action scenes it does provide a focal length that is perfectly suited to the A1D. The image is wonderfully sharp, with over 9million effective megapixels on the high-res sensor. The A1D provides a very level HD pipeline centered around the sony HDV 24p sensor. The manufacturer claims that this is the best 1080i HDV camcorder available and scoring at such a low price tag is making me believe them.
